Pre- requisites and essentials for accreditation in Iran Medical Education System

Abstract:

Introduction. Accreditation has a long antecedence in western countries educational systems and its history of implementation is more than a century in a country such as United States of America. In European countries, also different activities have been implied throughout the accreditation and its implementation has become an essential. Now, in our country the experts also think of the accreditation implementation. In this article, we will try to provide the following aims: Reviewing academic (university) independence and accreditation process relations Recognizing essential pre-requisites for possessing the accreditation conditions in an educational section (unit) what will be the effect of medical education system [in our country] and especially its concentrating, in accreditation decision makings? Methods. Taking advantages from the internal assessment in Ministry of Health and Medical Education. The study of accreditation and its essentials in different countries Results. Culturalization, recognition and feeling of emergency making, having academic (University) independence and also possessing conditions in the section (unit) that requires accreditation, are the essentials and pre- requisites of accreditation. Some other conditions in ministerial level are essential, in addition to the university section cases. Discussion. The implementation of accreditation with whole interest and emergency in it, requires providing some of antecedents and essentials.
